Kelvin Gale, 79, dies

Malone, NY – Kelvin V. Gale, 79, of Bombay, NY passed away on Friday, May 17, 2019 at the Alice Hyde Medical Center with his family by his side after complications from a lengthy illness.

Born in Moira, NY on March 7, 1940, he was the son of Truman and Theresa (Gaffney) Gale who predeceased him.

He attended Brushton Moira school and graduated in 1958.

Mr. Gale was married to Eleanor (Allen) Gale on April 11, 1959 and they just recently celebrated 60 years together. Kelvin and Eleanor worked side by side for many years on their farm in Helena, NY milking cows and raising their children before they moved to Bombay where they farmed Standardbred horses. His passion was racehorses and spending time watching the races and keeping track of all the sales and who bought what horse.

Besides his wife, Mr. Gale is survived by three children and their spouses: Kevin and Cindy (Douglas) Gale of Moira, Clark and Sandra (Caron) Gale of Bombay, and Mary(Gale) and Raymond Martin of Moira, and a sister, Marie (Vernal) Trumble of North Bangor. Grandchildren Courtney & Eric Weaver, Nicholas & Angela Mackey, Jacob Gale and companion Michaela Spaulding, Amber & Cody Rockhill, Derrick Gale and companion Melissa Plante, Clark Gale and companion Zackary Denham, Jenae McAllister and companion Darren Laurie, Ben and Lauren McAllister. Additionally, Mr. Gale is survived by nine great-grandchildren, Madison & Zachary Weaver, Brynlei Gale, Ainslie & Cooper Rockhill, Aiden Gale, and Ellie, Audrina & Lynden McAllister. He was predeceased by his twin brother Kermit at birth, a brother Robert (Marilyn) Gale and a granddaughter Allison Brown.

Funeral services were held this morning (May 24) at Flint’s Funeral Home with burial at the Sunnyside Cemetery, Brushton, NY.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to the Bombay or Moira Fire & Rescue Department
