Last call for Feb. 15 stakes payments

The Feb. 15 deadline is drawing near for many stakes payments. Below are a list of notices that have recently been submitted to the USTA Newsroom. The following information regarding upcoming stakes payments is not meant to be a complete list of every required stakes payment. It is a list of only those notifications that have been provided directly to the USTA for posting here. For more information on payments, click here.

Red Mile Stakes payments due Feb. 15

Lexington, KY – The Red Mile stakes payments for Grand Circuit Events – Kentucky Futurity, Tattersalls Pace, and Bluegrass Series races – are due on Tuesday, Feb. 15.

Payments for the Kentucky Futurity and Tattersalls Pace are as follows:

Feb. 15 – Open $1,000, Filly $500
March 15 – Open $1,500, Filly $750

Payments for the Bluegrass Series are:

Feb. 15 – $550
March 15 – $750
April 15 – $850

Ineligible 3-Year-Olds may be made eligible to the 3-Year-Old events in 2022 by making the 3-Year-Old Supplemental Nomination Fee of $5,000 on Feb. 15 plus the March 15 and April 15 payments.

Meadowlands stakes payments due Feb. 15

East Rutherford, NJ — The Meadowlands complete slate of stakes and Early Closers share a Feb. 15 (postmarked by) close of nominations date.

Maryland staking payments due

Ocean Pines, MD — This is a reminder that sustaining forms and possible payment are due Feb. 15 for the 4- and 5-year-old Open Maryland Sire Stakes for trotters and pacers (foals of 2017 and 2018).

Three-year-old payments (foals of 2019) are due to the Maryland Standardbred Fund and the Maryland Sire Stakes on Feb. 15.

All stallion pedigrees, staking forms, and stake dates are now available online including a printable calendar. Please use our website at www.msrfonline.com for all your current MSRF info and any updates as they become available.

We recommend that all payments be sent by certified mail or mail with tracking. Please remember to check and make sure you use this address for the Maryland Standardbred Race Fund: P.O. Box 1530, Ocean Pines, MD 21811.

Massachusetts Sire Stake continuation payments due Feb. 15

Plainville, MA — Anyone who has horses eligible to compete in the 2022 Massachusetts Sire Stakes should take note that continuation payments are due on Tuesday (Feb. 15).

The stakes that start on Sunday (Sept. 25) have an estimated total value of $2.24 million and will be contested in three $60,000 preliminary legs for each age, gender and gait followed by eight $100,000 finals on Monday (Oct. 24).

There have been three condition changes for starters this year that were recently announced by the board of directors. The qualifying rule has been changed from 30 days to 45 days. Also, new guidelines for qualifying times are as follows: 2-year-old pacers must go in 2:05 and 2-year-old trotters in 2:07. The 3-year-old pacers must go in 2:03 and 3-year-old trotters in 2:05. And lastly, in order to be eligible for the final, a horse must have started in at least two of the three preliminary legs.

DSBF Feb. 15 payments due

Dover, DE — A $300 sustaining payment is due for DSBF eligible 3-year-olds who made the March 15, 2021, sustaining payment of $100.

It is strongly suggested to use mail with a tracking number, UPS, or Federal Express. All payments must be postmarked by Feb. 15.

Credit card payments to this website are the easiest and most efficient method. Click on the label for “Online Portal.” There is no administrative fee. In the field labeled “invoice #” enter the horse’s name.

Delaware County Fair Feb. 15 payments due 

Delaware, OH – Sustaining payments for the sophomore classics Little Brown Jug (3-year-old colt pace), Jugette (3-year-old filly pace), Old Oaken Bucket (3-year-old open trot) and the Buckette (3-year-old filly trot) are due Feb. 15. These payments are for foals of 2019.

The sustaining payments are as follows: Little Brown Jug ($750), Jugette ($500), Old Oaken Bucket ($500) and Buckette ($400).

The Little Brown Jug and Old Oaken Bucket will be raced Thursday (Sept. 22) and the Jugette and Buckette on Wednesday (Sept. 21).

The 2022 Delaware Grand Circuit meet will continue to feature five days of racing (Sunday, Sept. 18 through Thursday, Sept. 22). The Sunday through Tuesday cards will go postward at 1 p.m. The Jugette and Jug cards will retain a noon start time.
