Last call for March 15 stakes payments

The March 15 deadline is drawing near for many stakes payments. Below are a list of notices that have been submitted to the USTA Newsroom.

Kentucky Sire Stakes payments due March 15

Lexington, KY — Sustaining payments for the Kentucky Sire Stakes are to be postmarked no later than March 15. Payments are due for both 2- and 3-year-old eligible horses.

Red Mile Grand Circuit payments due March 15

Lexington, KY — Red Mile has announced that Grand Circuit stakes payments are due March 15.

Maryland 2-year-old payments due March 15

Ocean Pines, MD — Two-year-old payments (foals of 2019) are due to the Maryland Standardbred Fund and the Maryland Sire Stakes on March 15.

This payment must be made to maintain eligibility.

All staking forms, race dates and stallion pedigrees are now available online. Please use our website for all your current MSRF info and any updates as they become available.

SBOANJ March 15 stakes payment reminder

Manalapan, NJ — This is the first time the SBOANJ is offering a supplemental payment in March for 3-year-olds who nominated but made no subsequent payments to the Home Grown Pace and the Garden State Trot.

Home Grown Pace and Garden State Trot supplemental payments are for 2-year-olds not nominated by May 15 and for 3-year-olds who nominated but did not make subsequent payments due March 15. Both supplemental and sustaining payments must be made in order to remain eligible.

Sustaining payment for the New Jersey Trotting Futurity #55 are also due March 15.

March 15 payments due for Delaware, Ohio Grand Circuit and Ohio Bred events

Delaware, OH — Two-year-old sustaining payments for the 77th edition of the Little Brown Jug, the 52nd Jugette, the 70th Old Oaken Bucket (3-year-old open trot) and the 70th Buckette (3-year-old filly trot) are due March 15. These payments are for foals of 2019 and will be raced in 2022.

Two-year-olds not nominated in the May 15, 2020 yearling payment may be made eligible through a supplemental nomination fee of $400 due on or before the March 15, 2021 payment. This supplemental payment is in addition to the normal March 15 payment.

Sustaining payments are also due for the 82nd Standardbred 2-year-old colt and filly stakes for foals of 2019 to be raced in 2021.

The $1,000,000 (est.) Ohio Breeders Championships require a single $300 ($100 for the older events) nomination payment due March 15, with no further sustaining payments required.

Returning to the 2021 Delaware County Fair race schedule are $17,500 legs of the Buckeye Stallion Series. To nominate to the BSS, a $250 nomination fee is due with no further sustaining payments required.

The Delaware County Fair is once again pleased to be a part of the Ohio Fair Racing Conference in 2021. The OFRC events require either a $75 nomination fee for just the Delaware County Fair or $420 for all the OFRC events. Nominations for the BSS and ORFC events must be postmarked by March 15 and sent directly to the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association, 2237 Sonora Drive, Grove City, OH 43123.

The five-day Delaware Grand Circuit meet opens Sunday (Sept. 19) and will run through Thursday (Sept. 23).

Payments due for Next Generation and Charlie Hill Memorial Trot at Scioto Downs

Columbus, OH — Payments are coming due for races held at Eldorado Scioto Downs this summer. The Next Generation, Charlie Hill Memorial Trot and Ohio State Fair Stakes nominations are due March 15.

Ohio’s newest race, The Next Generation, debuted in 2020 for 2-year-old Ohio-bred pacers; the 2021 edition will also have races for 2-year-old Ohio-bred trotters. The nomination fee is $10,000 and buys the owner a spot; a horse does not need to be declared until the draw. All four divisions will be held July 2-3.

The Charlie Hill Memorial 4-year-old and up open trot will kick off opening week at Scioto this season, on Thursday (May 6). The nomination fee for this $125,000 (est.) race is $500.

Payments are also due for the Ohio State Fair Stakes. Nomination fees of $250 are due for each of the eight 2- and 3-year-old divisions. The Ohio State Fair races will be carded Aug. 5-7.

Nominations for the Jim Ewart Memorial Pace, held Sept. 11, are not due until June 15.

DSBF March 15 payments due

Dover, DE — A $100 sustaining payment is due March 15 for DSBF eligible 2-year-olds who made the May 15, 2020, nomination payment of $40.

A 2-year-old who was not nominated can pay a supplement fee of $350 along with the March 15 $100 sustaining fee and a copy of the USTA registration papers or the Pathway Basic Horse report. Horse name search is not acceptable.

It is strongly suggested to use mail with a tracking number, UPS, or Federal Express. All payments must be postmarked by March 15.

Credit card payments are the easiest and most efficient method and can be made here. Click on the label for “Online Payment Portal.” There is no administrative fee. In the field labeled “invoice #” enter the horse’s name.

Second sustaining payments are due by May 15 in the amount of $200.

Dr. H.M. Parshall Stakes payment reminder

Washington Court House, OH — Sustaining payments for both 2- and 3-year-olds are due March 15 for the Dr. H.M. Parshall Memorial Stakes. Payments are $100 each.

Race date is Thursday (Aug. 26) at The Great Darke County Fair in Greenville, Ohio.

If you purchased a yearling last fall at any yearling sale (US or Canada) with an engagement to the Parshall Memorial, you must sustain them as a 2-year-old for the horse to race as a 2-year-old and/or remain eligible as a 3-year-old.
