‘Layla Crushes Cancer’ fundraiser for 8-year-old girl

Columbus, OH – A fundraiser for Layla, the 8-year-old granddaughter of long-time Delaware horseman Joe Hundertpfund, who is battling cancer for the second time in her young life, is scheduled for Sunday (Dec. 8) from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Marydel Fire Company, located at 110 Firehouse Lane in Marydel, DE.

In addition, a Facebook auction is underway for autographed colors from Hall of Fame drivers John Campbell, David Miller, Ron Pierce, Brian Sears, newly elected Tim Tetrick as well as current leading drivers Yannick Gingras and Andrew McCarthy.

Bids are being accepted until 8 p.m. on Sunday on the Layla Crushes Cancer Facebook event pageBidders that search Facebook for “Layla Crushes Cancer” must click on the “Discussion” tab on the event page to see the auction items.

Tickets ($20 for adults, $12 for children) for the Sunday fundraiser at the Marydel Fire Company can be purchased at the door.  The event will feature a buffet catered by Chaiyo restaurant as well as Karaoke, live and Chinese auction items, including autographed NFL and MLB memorabilia, plus a handmade quilt, wreaths, ornaments and more.  In addition, LAYLA CRUSHES CANCER t-shirts will be available for purchase as well.

First diagnosed with metastatic Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer that grows in bones or the soft tissue around bones at age 5, Layla underwent chemotherapy and had been declared clean for two years before tests revealed that it had returned in May.  She is currently undergoing further chemotherapy, which is expected to last for at least six months.
