Legrand was nominated by the well-known Jo Ann and Jim King Jr. stable, where he has been employed the last three years and is known for his passion for the horses under his care and an infectious smile. Legrand cares for the horses as if he owned them himself and always does his job with a smile on his face.

The King stable is one of the most successful in the industry, having campaigned standouts like 2019 Dan Patch Horse of the Year Shartin N and current honoree for Pacing Mare of the Year, Lyons Sentinel, just to name a few.

Legrand has worked in the business for nearly 40 years and learned the ropes from his grandfather, Willard Hughes.

Legrand will be presented with a $200 check, restaurant gift certificates from Harrington Raceway and Casino and Dover Downs, in addition to a custom jacket courtesy of the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund at the upcoming Delaware Standardbred Owners Association banquet on Feb. 11.
