Licensed race tracks in Michigan may reopen Aug. 5

Lansing, MI — Thank you for your continued patience as we navigate racing and COVID-19. We are pleased to announce some much needed good news. Wednesday night, Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed Executive Order 2020-160 and Executive Order 2020-161, which reopens licensed racetracks in Michigan. The orders allow for the reopening of licensed race tracks at 10 a.m. on Aug. 5, 2020.

Licensed race tracks must follow all orders issued by the Executive Director for reopening and operation consistent with the executive orders.

We have been in constant communication with Northville Downs and the Michigan Gaming Control Board and are working diligently on reopening dates for the facility for live horse racing (both fair races and pari-mutuel races) and betting.

As soon as we have more details on the exact dates and times we hope to return to live racing we will let members know. We will also provide details on protocols that must be followed to ensure our safe reopening.
