Mark Austin Pacing Series gets green light at Dresden

Dresden, ON — The fifth annual Mark Austin Pacing Series is set to go at Dresden Raceway.

The series, named in memory of trainer Mark Austin, will be open to maiden pacers who are non-winners of one race or C$5,000 (F&M C$6,000) as of April 15, 2020 (no allowances).

The first leg of the series will go behind the gate on June 28, the second leg is set for July 5 and the series finale is set for July 12. Each elimination will race for a purse of C$5,000 while the final will be for C$12,000 added.

Mark Austin was a trainer who got his start at Dresden Raceway and had amassed 837 wins and C$9 million in purses when he died suddenly in 2014. The local trainer vaulted into the spotlight when he was asked to break a trotter named A Worthy Lad for Joe Johnston and went on to great success with horses such as Oscarsson, Sparky Mark and Fool Me Once.
