May 15 stakes payment information

The May 15 deadline is drawing near for many stakes payments. Below are a list of notices that have been submitted to the USTA Newsroom. The following information regarding upcoming stakes payments is not meant to be a complete list of every required stakes payment. It is a list of only those notifications that have been provided directly to the USTA for posting here. For more information on payments, click here.

Woodbine Mohawk Park nomination and sustaining payments due May 15 

Milton, ON — Woodbine Mohawk Park management would like to remind all owners, trainers and horse people of the May 15 stakes payment deadline, which includes sustaining payments for major stakes and nominations for Woodbine’s 2-year-old summer series.

All of Woodbine’s major Standardbred stakes for 2021 require a May 15 sustaining payment. Woodbine Entertainment recently announced new dates for several major stakes, including the C$1 million Pepsi North America Cup now scheduled for Sept. 11.

Woodbine Mohawk Park will again host its annual 2-year-old summer series this season. The Dream Maker, Whenuwishuponastar, Millard Farms and Pure Ivory offer great racing opportunities for 2-year-olds, with two preliminary legs and a C$50,000 added final for each event. These events have been launching pads to stardom for many champions over the years.

The nomination fee for each 2-year-old series is C$500.

The deadline to nominate yearlings (foals of 2020) to the 2022 Champlain and 2023 Simcoe is also May 15. Nominations also close May 15 for the 2023 SBOA, open to Ontario sired fillies foaled in 2020.

Delaware (OH) Grand Circuit yearling nomination payments due

Delaware, OH — Owners are reminded that the yearling nomination payments for the Delaware (OH) Grand Circuit events for foals of 2020 (to be raced in 2023) are due May 15. Also due are the nomination payments for the Standardbreds (2-year-old events) for foals of 2020 and to be raced in 2022.

The nomination fees are as follows: Little Brown Jug and Jugette — $50; Old Oaken Buckete and Buckette — $25; and Standardbreds — $25.

Ohio Breeders Championship stallion subscription is due May 15

Ohio breeders are urged to subscribe their stallions to the Ohio Breeders Championship 2- and 3-year-old events worth $750,000 at the Delaware County Fair.

This year’s payment will cover foals for 2020 to be raced at Delaware, Ohio, as 2-year-olds in 2022 and 3-year-olds in 2023.

May payments due in Maryland

Ocean Pines, MD — Two-year-old payments (foals of 2019) are due to the Maryland Standardbred Fund and the Maryland Sire Stakes on May 15. This payment is for 2-year-olds that will be racing in 2021.

Yearling nominations (foals of 2020) to the Maryland Standardbred Fund and the Maryland Sire Stakes are also due on May 15.

All checks must be made out to the Maryland Standardbred Race Fund.

2023 Meadowlands Pace nomination due May 15

East Rutherford, NJ — The payment to nominate the foals of 2020 to the 2023 Meadowlands Pace is due by May 15.

DSBF sustaining payments due May 15

Dover, DE – Delaware Standardbred Breeders’ Fund sustaining payments for 2-year-olds and nominating payments for yearlings are due to be postmarked by May 15.

All 2-year-olds who made a March 15 payment of $100 are eligible to make this payment of $200. The payment can be skipped if the horse will not race as a 2-year-old.

All yearlings by a registered Delaware sire for the year 2019 are required to be nominated to the program for a $40 nominating fee plus a copy of the USTA registration papers. If the papers are held electronically at the USTA then a “Pathway Basic Horse” report is acceptable.
