May 15 stakes payment information

The May 15 deadline is drawing near for some stakes payments. Others have been moved to a later date. Below are the notices that have been submitted to the USTA Newsroom.

New York Sire Stakes May yearling payments due May 15

Schenectady, NY — The New York Sire Stakes May yearling payments must be postmarked by May 15.

These payments cannot be made online and must be mailed. Certified mail is encouraged.

Meanwhile, all eligible 2- and 3-year-old horses are now posted on the New York Sire Stakes website. Owners and horsemen can now see their horses listed. You can see the list here.

Mark Austin Memorial at Dresden Raceway postponed

Milton, ON — Woodbine Entertainment would like to inform horsepeople that the Mark Austin Memorial held at Dresden Raceway has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nominations for the Mark Austin Memorial were scheduled to close Friday (May 15).

Originally scheduled for June 14, the Mark Austin Memorial, along with dates for the two preliminary legs, will be rescheduled for later this year. As such, a new closing date for nominations will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Mohawk Race Office will continue to administer all payments for this series.

OSS yearling nomination deadline extended

Toronto, ON — Owners of yearlings eligible to be nominated to the Ontario Sires Stakes are being given an extension. Ontario Racing has extended the payment deadline from May 15 to June 15.

OSS Yearling Nomination forms have recently been mailed to the owners of eligible foals of 2019 according to the information in the Standardbred Canada computer system.

Owners are reminded that their yearlings must be registered at the time of nomination and Standardbred Canada requires that the DNA and microchipping be completed before the foal is registered.

The fee to nominate a yearling is C$100 (US$85).

FSBOA May 15 stake payments extended to July 1

Pompano Beach, FL — To assist the horsemen in these trying times, the May 15 sustaining payments for all Florida-bred stakes — yearling (foals of 2019) and 2- and 3-year-olds — has been extended to July 1.

Nomination forms must be sent in to the FSBOA’s office for your horses to be eligible no later than May 15. Note that the nomination forms include a payment agreement stating that the nomination of the horse for the May 15 deadline date requires the applicable payments to be paid no later than July 1. No exceptions. The sale, transfer, injury or death of any horse nominated shall not eliminate the obligation for the payments to be made by the owner making the May 15 nomination.

Yearlings – (foals of 2019)

Meadowlands payments due May 15

East Rutherford, NJ — The Meadowlands reminds the connections of those horses made eligible to our stakes that the deadline for the final sustaining payment on a number of those races is (postmarked by) May 15.

Yearling nominations on the foals of 2019 to race in the 2022 Meadowlands Pace are also due by May 15.

Yearling payments due May 15 in Maryland

Union Bridge, MD — Yearling nominations (foals of 2019) to the Maryland Standardbred Fund and the Maryland Sire Stakes are due on May 15.

All checks must be made out to the Maryland Standardbred Race Fund.

Two-year-old Maryland stake payments extended to June 15

Union Bridge, MD — The May 15 second sustaining payment for 2-year-olds to the Maryland Sire Stakes and the Maryland Standardbred Fund Stakes have been extended by the State of Maryland to assist the horsemen in these trying times.

The second 2-year-old payment is now due June 15. This only applies to 2-year-olds.

Please check the Maryland Standardbred Race Fund website at www.msrfonline.com for updates to the racing schedule. A new schedule will be released once racing in Maryland resumes.

May 15 payment information for Hambletonian Society stakes

Cranbury, NJ — Enclosed you will find links to the payment forms for the races administered by The Hambletonian Society with payments due by Friday (May 15), which must be postmarked by midnight of Monday (May 18).

The forms are always available on our website at www.hambletonian.com/formsinfo and by calling our office and having them faxed or e-mailed to you. All the forms on the website are pdf fillable. Just type right in the form, print as many as you need and return the form with your payments.

Along with checks, we are accepting credit cards as a form of payment for any stakes payments you may want to make. All credit card payments are subject to a three percent service fee which will be added to your payment total.

In May, sustaining payments are due for a majority of the 2-year-old races that we service. Yearling payments are also due this May, as well as the supplement payment for the Courageous Lady 3-year-old filly event. Below are the races which have a payment due this May (broken down by division):

3-Year-Olds: Courageous Lady supplement payment

As a reminder, there are stallion restrictions for the Breeders Crown and Cane Pace yearling payments that are due on May 15. Foals of Downbytheseaside are ineligible to be paid into the Cane Pace per the Stallion Restriction Condition (SRC) in the Cane Pace conditions.

For the Breeders Crown, a list of the stallions whose foals are Breeders Crown eligible for foals of 2019 (Breeders Crown #35) can be found here. Links to the lists of eligible stallions for previous and future years can be found here.

The condition sheets for each race can be found on our website on the specific race page set up for that race. In all cases only one check is ever necessary for each of the four payment periods i.e. Feb. 15, March 15, April 15 or May 15.

To make it more convenient, eligibility lists can be emailed to those nominators who provide us their e-mail address and request these lists. Eligibility lists are always available on our website here.

Woodbine Mohawk Park Standardbred stakes payments due May 15

Milton, ON — Woodbine Entertainment would like to inform all owners and trainers that stakes payments for May will proceed as a precautionary measure should live racing resume in June. The stakes payments are due on Friday (May 15).

The April 15 stake payments have been waived completely and the list of horses remaining eligible to our stakes after the March 15 payment can be found here.

A revised Standardbred stakes schedule will be announced shortly. This will include the new date for the Pepsi North America Cup and the undercard stakes,along with the qualifying schedule and first condition sheets.

DSBF payments due May 15

Dover, DE — Sustaining payments for 2-year-olds and nomination payments for yearlings are due to be postmarked by May 15. Forms were mailed and must be used. They are also available to download on the DSBF website or by e-mail at Judy.Davis-Wilson@delaware.gov.

The 2-year-old fee is $200. This payment may be skipped if one is not going to race in 2020.

The yearling fee us $40 and must be accompanied by a copy of USTA registration or a USTA Pathway “Basic Horse” report. Sire must have been registered to stand in Delaware in 2018.

Credit card payments are permissible and available on the website via the Payment Portal or call 302.698.4610 and provide your information.

Because of the State’s pandemic emergency orders drop-offs are permitted by appointment only. One must wear a mask to enter the DDA lobby.

Parshall Stakes nominations due May 15

Washington Court House, OH — The Dr. H.M. Parshall Memorial Stakes with a nomination fee of only $15 remains one of the best values for yearling engagements throughout the United States and Canada. The yearling staking deadline is May 15.

If you have several colts and fillies to nominate you may certainly use your own spreadsheet to nominate in lieu of the OCRA form. Please provide the name of the yearling, sire, dam and registration number. Payment must be postmarked by Friday (May 15).

Virginia Breeders Early Closer sustaining payments now due July 15

Woodstock, VA — The Virginia Harness Horsemen’s Association announced that the deadline to submit sustaining payments for 2- and 3-year-old horses in the Virginia Breeders Early Closer program, originally due on May 15, has been extended to July 15.

The fee is $200 per horse. Nomination payments ($200) were previously due on March 15 and declaration payments ($200) are due at time of entry. All races will be held during the fall pari-mutuel meet at Shenandoah Downs in Woodstock. Purses for prep/elimination races will be $4,000 and estimated purses for the finals will be $40,000, plus all nominating, sustaining and declaration fees.

Three-year-old eliminations are scheduled for Saturday (Sept. 19) while 2-year-old elims will be held the following Saturday (Sept. 26). The finals for both ages will be Saturday (Oct. 3).

Virginia-bred yearlings, which were to have been registered with the VHHA by May 15, will receive the same two month extension. That $25 fee, along with a nomination form and USTA certification, is now due by July 15.
