Washington, PA — Kentucky Derby Day at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows will be a daylong extravaganza featuring first-class live harness racing, contests and prizes, food and drink specials, and live entertainment that begins before noon and won’t end until the Run for the Roses that evening.

The activities on Saturday (May 7) kick off with an exciting card of live harness racing that launches the Pennsylvania Sires Stake season at The Meadows. The card is headlined by a pair of stakes for 3-year-old colt and gelding pacers: a $150,000 (est.) sires stake and a $60,000 (est.) Pennsylvania Stallion Series event.

Even as fans are soaking up the live races, they’ll enjoy participating in a variety of activities planned by The Meadows and the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association, including:

• A $1,000 Derby Hat Contest with prizes for Most Glamorous, Most Creative, Best Fascinator and Best Racing Theme. Contestants must register at the MSOA table from 11 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.;
• A Bounce Back Preakness Coupon that all fans who purchase a Meadows program will receive. Bring the coupon back on Preakness Day (Saturday, May 21) and be eligible to win $500. (Coupons must not be scratched off until Preakness Day.);
• Live music on the apron from DJ AJ Fresh beginning at 11:30 a.m.;
• A mouth-watering menu at Ember’s Lounge and mint juleps in commemorative Kentucky Derby glasses or Hollywood Casino tumblers;
• Paddock tours and starting car rides provided by the MSOA as well as jog cart rides once the live program concludes.
