Meadville (Pa.) meet lost to foul weather

from the Pennsylvania Fair Harness Horsemen’s Association

Meadville, PA — The Pennsylvania fair circuit, which lost three of its first five cards to bad weather but had had only one interruption since (at Bedford), was washed out of both cards of the two-day Sire Stakes meet scheduled for the Crawford County Fairgrounds in northwest Pennsylvania on Tuesday (Sept. 11) and Wednesday (Sept. 12).

Hard rain on Monday combined with little wind and a passing shower at key times rendered the track surface unable to allow safe racing.

Rain has been plaguing the east part of the country recently, with more seeming likely to follow. Only two more stops are on the Keystone State fair circuit before the Oct. 6 Fair Finals at The Meadows: at Gratz on Sunday (Sept. 16) and Monday (Sept. 17), and at Bloomsburg the following Friday (Sept. 21) and Saturday (Sept. 22).
