New ID Technician added to Southern States

Columbus, OH — The USTA recently welcomed Bernard Demars to serve as the new ID technician for the states of Texas, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.

Bernard is based out of Greenville, Texas and has been involved in several aspects of the harness racing industry spanning several decades as an owner, driver and trainer.

The territory was originally served by Garry Phillips, who remains as the ID Technician serving the remainder of the District 4 members in Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

“Due to the increase in the demand in the southern states as well as the size of the territory, combined with the overall benefit of our microchipping program, growth is now a reasonable and feasible option in situations like this,” said TC Lane, USTA Chief Operating Officer and Directory of Registry.

Training is expected to be finalized in the coming days, and Demars will begin scheduling appointments now for microchipping only at this time.

The USTA encourages all of our members in the territory to avoid the last-minute rush and get in touch with Demars as soon as possible to schedule an appointment to have your horse microchipped. He can be reached at 903.268.8017.
