Laura, OH — K F Pro Sam, the Ohio Horse of the Year in 2001, that was also the 2- and 3-year-old pacing colt of 1999 and 2000, recently arrived at New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program.

K F Pro Sam recently arrived at New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program.

In addition to his many Ohio titles, K F Pro Sam was fifth in the Little Brown Jug in 2000, before heading east where he won the $100,000 Maryland Governor’s Cup and multiple Open events at the Meadowlands. Trained most of his career by Scott Mogan, with Sam “Chip” Noble in the bike, K F Pro Sam earned $635,000 in 60 starts over five years.

Retired in 2003, K F Pro Sam resided at Scioto Downs and taught Mogen’s then 11-year-old son to drive. The gelding then went to Henry Burkholder near Wooster and taught his children to ride. A decade has passed and the children are grown.

K F Pro Sam is healthy, happy and has a lot of years and wisdom yet to offer. It was decided in December to send him to New Vocations in search of another family.

“We are honored to have such a great Ohio horse in our program,” Standardbred Director Winnie Nemeth said. “K F Pro Sam has been very well cared for and loved by many horsemen. He is currently being ridden daily and will be available for adoption soon. Most people never have the chance to be around a horse with this much class and experience. We plan to find a special home that will enjoy and appreciate him for years to come.”
