Oak Grove Racing to amend race dates for racing surface repair

Oak Grove, KY — Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel announced today that it will move three of its live harness race dates originally scheduled for Oct. 26-28 to the end of the 2020 meet on Nov. 21-23. The adjustment was made in abundance of caution to allow for repairs to the track’s racing surface after it sustained damage due to a torrent of unexpected rainfall earlier in the week.

The environmental damage previously necessitated the cancelation of race dates at Oak Grove Racing on Oct. 19-21.

“At Oak Grove Racing, safety is always our top priority,” said Darold Londo, President and General Manager of Oak Grove Racing. “Extensive and thorough repairs to the racing surface are underway and we are grateful to the KHRC, KHA and all the horsemen involved for their cooperation in making these necessary adjustments.”

“We are enthusiastic at how the live harness meet was progressing so positively and are disappointed to have to make adjustments to the race schedule,” said Bob Brady, President of the Kentucky Harness Association, “but we commend Oak Grove Racing, their staff, the horsemen and the Racing Commission for their swift response and are pleased the track will be repaired and ready to continue this successful season soon. A cooperative effort is great to see in these situations.”

Live harness racing at Oak Grove Racing will resume on Nov. 2 and take place on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays through Nov. 11, Nov. 15 and 16, and the rescheduled dates of Nov. 21-23 with a 12:30 p.m. post time.
