Obvious Blue Chip wins Friday, repeats Tuesday at Pocono

Wilkes-Barre, PA — The Roll With Joe mare Obvious Blue Chip, a winner despite being parked the mile at Saratoga on Friday (Aug. 16), came right back to triumph in the $14,000 distaff pacing feature on the Tuesday (Aug. 20) twilight card at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono.

Simon Allard got away third with the career winner of $517,574, then quarter-moved to command and did not get too taxing a middle half. This moderation left Obvious Blue Chip with plenty in the tank for the last quarter, which she stepped in :26.2 while taking a new mark of 1:50, 1-1/4 lengths ahead of a game pocket sitting Shes Pukka N.

Simon’s brother Rene, the leading trainer at The Downs, conditions the winner for NLG Racing Stable and Stephen Klunowski.

Simon Allard and George Napolitano Jr. each drove four winners on the Tuesday Pocono card.
