Indianapolis, IN — In what was his third career start, Odds On Osiris triumphed in 1:51.3 in the 93rd edition of the $55,150 Fox Stake for 2-year-old pacers in Grand Circuit action at the Indiana State Fair on Wednesday (Aug. 7). The event was the sixth race on a 12-race card which also featured the $33,383 Ralph Wilfong Memorial for 2-year-old trotters, which was captured by Just Like Fire (Trace Tetrick) in 1:58.

Odds On Osiris, steered by Peter Wrenn for conditioner Melanie Wrenn, is a son of Rockin Image-Antigua Hanover. They left from post position eight in a field of nine.

Content to settle in eighth as the youngsters hit the quarter pole in a swift :26.2, the gelding remained in that position until the half which went in :56.1, while The Candyman Can (Sam Widger) led the group.

After three-quarters in 1:23.3, it did not appear Odds On Osiris was in a position for his first victory as he had only mildly improved his position to advance to seventh. The gelding, however, was given his cue and picked up the bit to place himself in second at the top of the stretch. After clicking off a :27.1 final quarter-mile, Odds On Osiris hit the wire to best his rivals.

Slowing in the lane after setting hot fractions, The Candyman Can, conditioned by Ron Burke, settled for second with Fox Valley Hustler (James Yoder) grabbing show honors for trainer Erv Miller.

Odds On Osiris is the second foal out of his dam, who amassed $242,853 on the racetrack over her four-year career. The daughter of Somebeachsomewhere is a half-sibling to Appeloosa Hanover (Western Hanover, $468,725) and Apere Hanover (The Panderosa, $153,248).

A full brother to the 2017 Hoosier Classic Yearling Sale sales topper Rockinbythebeach ($93,000), Odds On Osiris sold under the name Swiss Rocket at that same venue in 2018 for $60,000.

The gelding is owned by Odds On Racing and now sports a bankroll of $31,895 with a record of 3-1-0-1.

In the Wilfong Memorial, Just Like Fire was sent to the post in a field of six in the fifth race. The gelded son of Jailhouse Jesse-Glide Sally Glide left from post position four and settled in third position for the first segment of the mile which went in :28.2 courtesy of Osprey Hanover (Deshawn Minor).

Tetrick was content to allow his charge to remain in that spot to the half-mile marker with a second split of :59.3 but was prepared to launch his bid after three-quarters in 1:29.2.

In second at the top of the homestretch, the Roger Welch trainee trotted home with a :28.1 final quarter-mile to best a fast closing Swan Mark (James Yoder) in 1:58. Osprey Hanover was third.

Owned by William De Long, William Patrick De Long, Ray De Long and Douglas Riccolo, Just Like Fire is the sixth foal from his dam. The gelding is a half sibling to Don Swan (Swan For All, $153,336) and a full brother to Indiana Sire Stakes champion Just Jess ($342,144).

Just Like Fire went through the 2018 Hoosier Classic Yearling Sale for $32,000. The gelding now has earned $26,941 in his brief career and improved his record to 4-3-0-0.

Tetrick was the pilot of four winners on the evening, while Welch trained three winners.
