Ohio Sires Stakes closes out 2020 season

Northfield, OH – The 2020 Ohio Sires Stakes season came to a close on Saturday night (Oct. 17), as eight $75,000 Consolation divisions for 2- and 3-year-olds were contested at Northfield Park.

Katie’s Lucky Day, the 7-5 favorite, captured the 2-year-old filly trot easily in 1:56.2 for trainer-owner Bill Cottongim of Stockbridge, MI.  The daughter of Uncle Peter-Europass-Andover Hall upped her career earnings to $74,479 with this triumph, the sixth of her career in 12 tries.

“She was kind of a slow starter but here toward the end of the year, she’s really come into herself,” said winning driver Trevor Smith.

Margin Of Error captured the 2-year-old filly pace handily in 1:55 with David Miller driving for trainer Chris Beaver and owners Donald E. Robinson, Chris Beaver, D Meola and RBH Ventures.

“I really didn’t know anything about any of these horses I was down to drive tonight but this one worked out well,” Miller, who made his first drive at Northfield this year a winning one, said.

Margin Of Error is a daughter of Racing Hill-Margin Blue Chip-Artsplace who has amassed $60,150.  She left the gate at 6-1 odds.  s was her second career win in 10 starts.

Burrow, the 1-5 favorite, notched his fourth win of the year for driver Ronnie Wrenn, Jr., and trainer Jim Arledge, Jr., in the 2-year-old colt and gelding trot, timed in 1:58.1. The Uncle Peter-Just Asking-Inquirer gelding now has $62,819 in career earnings for owners Jude Jacobs, M McLoughlin, B Roth and P Phillips.

“He was a little immature earlier in the year but this crew has done a great job with him and his last couple of starts he’s really come into himself,” said Wrenn, Jr.

Dontholdanythinbak captured the 2-year-old colt and gelding pace in a smart 1:52.3 for trainer Jim Arledge, Jr., and owners Laura and Paul Baker.  The son of Domethatagain-It’s Ladies Nite-Towner’s Big Guy was piloted by Ronnie Wrenn, Jr., to his second career win in 11 starts.  This bay colt, who left the gate as the 3-1 choice, now has $61,778 in career earnings.

Thankful For You (9-2) took advantage of multiple front-end breakers in the lane to win the 3-year-old filly trot in an easy 1:55.3.  Reined by Elliott Deaton for trainer Anette Lorentzon and owners Kentuckiana Racing Stable, the daughter by Manofmanymissions-Adelaide Hall-Conway Hall notched her fifth win of the year in her 22nd start and now has $95,276 in her bank account.

T Degengold (2-1) took the 3-year-old filly pace in a snappy 1:53.3 for trainer Jeff Nisonger and driver Ronnie Wrenn, Jr.  The daughter of Pet Rock-Goldies Cam-Camluck is owned by Johnny P. Kearns and with this latest triumph—the 16th of her career—she now has $125,789 in career earnings.  This victory gave Nisonger a training double and Wrenn, Jr., a driving triple.

Enforce The Law (2-5) gave David Miller his second OSS triumph as he captured the 3-year-old colt and gelding trot in 1:55.3.  The son of Triumphant Caviar-Shez Jailbait-Jailhouse Jesse is owned by his trainer Joseph Kramp.  This was his eighth lifetime win in 30 starts and upped his lifetime earnings to $120,528.

Mr Ds Rock scored a commanding 1:51.3, a new lifetime mark, en route to winning the 3-year-old colt and gelding pace.  Aaron Merriman was at the lines for trainer Brian Loney and owners Tammy Carter, Debra Carsey, Scp Stable and Peggy Carter. The son of Pet Rock-Cotton Candy-Sportsmaster picked up his 10th career win in 33 starts and pushed his bankroll to $186,110.
