Ohio Standardbreds & Friends heading to Kentucky Horse Park

by Debbie Schiff, Ohio Standardbreds & Friends

Kingston, OH — On April 20, 11 horses will be heading to the Kentucky Horse Park for a weekend of demos that will showcase the versatility and talents of the Standardbred.

The group will perform at the park in the Breeds Arena on Saturday (April 21) and Sunday (April 22) at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. both days.

Something new will be happening this trip and we are really excited. There will be two non-Standardbreds going along. Reason? Several of the youth riding with OSAF are also members of Blazin’ Bridles & Buddies, a new 4-H group recently started in Pickaway County. The youth will be doing some demos as one of their 4-H projects on the difference in the gaits of the breeds. The group will also demo that their Standardbreds can trot and canter and be competitive in the show ring. Education is extremely important as we promote the breed and help keep the idea of ownership alive and well.

Standardbreds going are Allamerican Legacy, Combak Fox, Stud’s Hooligan, Beware Of Our Party, Cool Muffler, Skiff, Powerlifer, Silver Match and Thank You Sam. Y Not Kiss The Bride, a registered American Paint, will demo the trot and lope and Johnny Cash, a Tennessee Walker, will demo the walk and running walk.

The group will showcase English Pleasure, Showmanship, Leadline, Gaited Western, Parade, Dressage, Jumping, Hunter Under Saddle, costume and trail.

We are excited to be invited back to the Horse Park and we are looking forward to showcasing the Standardbred as we kick-off our 2018 show season and event schedule.
