C Me Shine and Stacey Volkman were among the participants at the Kentucky Horse Park.

Seven of the ten horses were adopted from New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program.

The group did two demos each day. In addition to the demos they also rode and/or walked around the park visiting with park quests.

Many visitors also came to the big barn where the group was stabled to meet the horses and talk about them. Some of them had never even touched a horse! What a great first time experience for them to meet one of the best breeds in the world — the Standardbred!

This same group, plus an additional five Standardbreds, will be heading to the Kentucky Horse Park again in July to participate in Breyerfest where they will present the Standardbred in front of thousands of spectators. They will demonstrate in Harness, Saddleseat, Gaited Western, Costume, Dressage, Western Dressage, Polocrosse, Huntseat, English Pleasure, Western Pleasure, Trail and Showmanship.

Ohio Standardbreds & Friends was created in 2014 to promote the Standardbred during racing and after in their new careers as pleasure horses. OSAF promotes the breed through clinics, demos, Hunter Paces, Fun Shows, Trail rides and the World Show.

The 2015 Standardbred World Show will be held Oct. 16-18 in Sunbury, Ohio, at the beautiful Eden Park Equestrian facility. For more information on events contact Debbie Schiff at dschiff@roadrunner.com or by visiting their Facebook page and events pages.
