Pair of Maryland Standardbred Fund Stakes held at Ocean Downs

Berlin, MD — The Maryland Standardbred Fund Stakes for sophomore filly trotters went to post as race eight on Sunday (July 7) at Ocean Downs.

Reinsman John Wagner took full advantage of post one, going gate-to-wire with Mary’s A Keeper (Lockkeeper), holding off the pocket sitting Bossy Hilly (Great George Two) in 1:58.3. Arlene Cameron trains for co-owners and breeders John Wagner and Syl King Jr.

The 3-year-old pacing colts and geldings were showcased in race 10.

Not content with sitting fourth, driver Eddie Davis Jr. pulled Trump That Rusty (Rusty’s For Real) at the three-eighth pole to go head to head with the leader Owzitgoin (Rusty’s For Real) for the rest of the mile. When the dust settled Trump That Rusty was victorious in 1:55 for co-owners Jeffrey Billings and Dylan Davis. Davis is also the trainer and Warren Racing Stable is the breeder.

The Maryland Standardbred Fund stakes continue on Wednesday (July 10) with splits for pacing fillies and trotting colts and geldings.
