Patrick Pierson, 69, dies

Columbus, OH — Patrick Allen Pierson, 69, died June 20, 2020, in his home.

He was born Feb. 1, 1951, in Marion, Ind., to Forrest and Roma (Calender) Pierson. He grew up on a farm and was an animal lover which led him to his career as a harness racing trainer/driver. He was an accomplished trainer and traveled the country. He was also a taxi cab driver which he loved, especially meeting people.

He was a fun loving guy and lived life to the fullest and would not hesitate to indulge in an adult beverage or smoke. “Pierson’s here and full of beer!”

Mr. Pierson was a gruff teddy bear of a man who deeply loved his wife, Patricia, who he married Feb. 2, 1995 and who survives him. He took great pride raising their granddaughter, Josalyn. He is also survived by his children, Donna Annette (Rocky) Loney, Toni (Ray) Dishman, James (Ashley) Hunt, Charles (Angie) Hunt, Tamra (Anthony) Chininis, Deana (Darin) Chininis-Wright and Paula Chininis; grandchildren, Caleb Castle, AJ Wright, Josh Dishman, James Dishman, Anastacia Dishman, Kendric Dishman, Dakotah Hunt, Leah Hunt, Weston Hunt, Georgia Moon, Louis Vincenzo Costilla III, Zachary Neal, Gerald Chininis, Jakob Spencers and Josalyn Chininis; great-grandchildren, Louis Costilla III, Avaryaunna Costilla, Paige Costilla, Elsa Costilla, Vincenzo Costilla Jr., Zachary Neal and Renemae Dobbs; and siblings, Frosty, Cam Cravens, Donna Ryan and Jim Work. He was preceded in death by his mother, Roma Shackleford; father, Forrest; first wife, Sheila Smith-Slater; great-grandson, Jesse Costilla; siblings, Carolyn Cravens, Linda Doyle and Mike; and brother-in-law, Dan Ryan.

A Celebration of Life will begin at Castillo Funeral Home, 1757 Tremainsville Rd. on Saturday (June 27) after 4 p.m. (visitors are asked to wear mask, guests please limit your time so that others may have a chance to pay their respects and social distancing will be observed inside facilities) followed by A Celebration of Life Service at 6 p.m.
