Scarborough, ME — Pembroke Prayer crossed over the $1 million mark in career earnings on Sept. 19 at the Farmington (Maine) Fair, becoming the only horse ever bred in the state of Maine to achieve millionaire status.

Newly crowned millionaire Pembroke Prayer is feted in the Farmington Fair winner’s circle.

The 9-year-old son of Like A Prayer-Super Earl achieved the rarified status in style, mounting a determined stretch effort to overtake two-time State of Maine Trotter of the Year Kerogen in the final strides, claiming victory for the 52nd time in his storied career while stopping the clock in a respectable 1:59.4 in the $4,000 fairground event.

Owned in tandem by Mark Ford and William Varney, Pembroke Prayer is currently housed in the Valerie Grondin stable and was driven to victory by Heath Campbell.

He is best remembered in his native state for his upset win over world champion Enough Talk in the 2010 edition of the $50,000 Joseph Ricci Memorial Trot at Scarborough Downs.
