Perlucky outkicks Icanflylikeanangel again; Palone wins five more

Washington, PA — It was déjà vu all over again on Tuesday (July 14) at The Meadows as, for their second straight encounter, Perlucky out-kicked Icanflylikeanangel in the Lightning Lane to capture the $17,900 Open Handicap Trot.

Perlucky once again rallied up the Lightning Lane to defeat Icanflylikeanangel in Tuesday’s featured trot at The Meadows. Chris Gooden photo.

As in that earlier meeting, Perlucky stretched out Icanflylikeanangel to a :27 opening panel before releasing him. In the lane, Perlucky brushed by for Dave Palone, downing his rival by three-quarters of a length in 1:53.4. Rainbowinthewest, the lone mare in the field, rallied for third.

Ron Burke trains Perlucky, a 5-year-old Lucky Chucky gelding who now boasts a career bankroll of $448,011, for the Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Phillip Collura.

Palone, who piloted five winners Monday, matched that total on Tuesday. Mike Wilder also enjoyed a fine day with three wins on the 15-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Wednesday (July 15), when the 15-race program features a $6,792.07 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post is 12:45 p.m.
