Precision Blue Chip wins Rosecroft Sunday feature

Fort Washington, MD – Coming into 2020, Precision Blue Chip was three for 42 with a mark of 1:55.2 taken at Kawartha Downs last year.  In a year of turmoil because of Covid-19, Precision Blue Chip has been one of the years’ success stories, and has placed himself into Horse of the Meet consideration at Rosecroft, winning his third $12,500 Maryland Open Handicap on Sunday night (Nov. 22).

Driver Frank Milby put Precision Blue Chip ($8) in perfect position in the pocket, yielding an early lead to Nvrfearlloydishere after a :27.4 first quarter. While the 3-year old Maryland Sires Stakes runner-up took them through fractions of :57.2, 1:25, Precision Blue Chip pounced out of the pocket and picked up his 10th win of the year in 23 starts, closing in :27.2. It was his third win in the top class this fall in six starts with only one of those starts coming from inside post six.

Courtney Brooks, owns and trains the 5-year old son of Bettors Delight who pushed his seasonal earnings to $48,507. The 5-2 favorite, Admiral Ballsy, finished second, while Fantastic Voyage was third. It was the second win of the night for Milby who won with Jason Walters’ Ardyne Sportstar ($4.40) in 1:55.1.

Driver Russell Foster had three wins on the card, winning with Cool Casper ($12.40) who wore down leader Whosyourpapa to trigger a nice $55.60 exacta. Trevor Stafford trains the winner for Jody Cahall.

Foster and Stafford would team up with a win again as Dance On The Beach ($9) won for the fifth time this year in 1:55.1. Foster’s other win came for trainer Greg Trotto, as Tom’s Tarzan’s ($4.40) stay in the barn was brief and a winning one as he was claimed for a second straight start.

Leading Driver Eddie Davis Jr. won twice on the card. Two-year old ridgling, JK Objection, whose only win had come in the barn of Nancy Takter, made a successful debut in the barn of Tim Crissman, for Midsize Construction Inc, winning in 1:54.3, returning $2.40. Davis also won with the Eric Davis trainee Winbak Carl, who picked up his 41st career win last night for owner Susan Baker paying $5.

Jason Thompson and trainer Brian Tomlinson have found some chemistry in this fall meet, as Tomlinson went out and freshened up the barn with new stock and some of those horses are paying dividends. Thompson won with claiming star Taragon ($8.60) who won twice at the $5,000 level and won Sunday night stepping up to the $7,500 level. Lisa Tomlinson co-owns the 4-year old gelding by Big Jim. The two also hooked up for a win with Wishiwasagigilo ($13) in a new lifetime mark of 1:53.4.

The moment of the night belonged to 18-year-old driver Cole Olsen who picked up his first lifetime pari-mutuel win with Hilarious Lou. The Pocomoke City native who had hit the board twice in 17 starts coming into Sunday night at Rosecroft, bottomed out the field in race six, cutting fractions of :26.2, :54.2, 1:22.4, and stopping the timer in 1:52.4 producing a return of $39.30 and a new lifetime speed mark.

Grand Teton made a successful debut for Christine Crissman-Bier and Vincent Ferriero Jr, as the former Chris Ryder trainee, won for the first time this year in 1:51.3 for trainer-driver Sean Bier.

Jackie Macleod won with Dancing On A Star ($6.40) in 1:52.2, Allan Davis scored with Homestretch Wes ($6), Pat Berry won with the ultra-classy 13-year-old Versado ($5.60) who won for the 63rd time in his millionaire career.
