Qualifiers set for Racing Under Saddle

by Jennifer Daniels, the U.S. Trotting Association

Columbus, OH — All Racing Under Saddle participants looking to qualify or school horses under saddle can do so on Saturday (July 28) at the Meadowlands following regularly scheduled qualifiers, which start at 10 a.m.

Additionally, RUS license applicants that have yet to complete the practical portion of the USTA exams can also do so that day.

Horses and riders can get experience behind the gate and trainers who have a horse to enter in a RUS race can find licensed riders for their horses. The draw is Tuesday (July 24) at 9 a.m. Practical exam takers must call in their entries to the race office as well.

Please note that a qualifying line, although not required for the upcoming under saddle race at the Meadowlands on August 4, will help horses hoping to enter that race and are strongly encouraged. Qualifying lines will assist RUS organizers in putting together competitive events in the future.

To help facilitate communication between all RUS participants, the USTA has arranged a new Racing Under Saddle webpage. Anyone interested in receiving future e-mail correspondence from the USTA regarding RUS can sign up for e-mail newsletters there. If you are a trainer that has a possible RUS horse available and would like help in locating a rider or event, use the sign up box to receive notices as well.
