Tuesday’s (August 19) edition of Racing Roundup features results stories from Harrington Raceway, Saratoga Gaming and Raceway, the Hicksville, Ohio Fair and the Meadville, Pa. Fair.

Sixteen Candles sharp in Harrington feature

Harrington, DE — Bob Kinsey, Jr. and William Oberle, Jr.’s Sixteen Candles ($4.60, Kinsey Jr.) earned her sixth win of the year on Tuesday in the $18,000 Mares Junior Open at Harrington Raceway.

Sixteen Candles was a 1:52.4 winner in the Mares Junior Open.

The Kinsey Jr. trainee settled third early behind pacesetter Bikini Bottom, who set fractions of :27.1 and :55.2. Sixteen Candles began to mount her attack on the backstretch approaching the three-quarters in 1:23.4. On the final turn she began to edge clear of Bikini Bottom and drew away by open lengths over Casino Bus, who closed for second, while Bikini Bottom held third.

The win pushed Sixteen Candles over the $200,000 earnings mark in her career.

Richard and Patricia Arndt’s Rafaella Seelster ($32.40, Eddie Davis, Jr.) won the other Mares Junior Open division in 1:54.

Driver Victor Kirby won four races on the program.

Alloveramerica takes Saratoga pacing feature

Saratoga Springs, NY — The 6-year-old pacer Alloveramerica halted a 15-race losing streak on Tuesday when taking the featured $5,500 non-winners pace at Saratoga Gaming and Raceway in 1:55.

Alloveramerica won the featured $5,500 non-winners pace at Saratoga Gaming and Raceway on Tuesday in 1:55.

Guided from post five by Jim Devaux, Alloveramerica paced confidently on the lead through uncontested fractions of :27.2, :57.1, and 1:26.1, entering the stretch with a 1-1/2 length lead over a pocket-sitting Baylander (Dan Cappello, Jr.) before holding off that rival to prevail by a length at the wire.

Alloveramerica returned $3.40, $2.30, and $2.10 for the victory. Baylander brought in $2.90 and $2.10 for second, while Shark Lookin (Kim Crawford) paid $6.70 for third.

Owned by Vincent Laurenzo and trained by Colin Johnson, Alloveramerica is a 17-time winner in 90 lifetime starts, with a career bankroll of $164,252.

The victory by Alloveramerica marked the third consecutive feature-race triumph for Johnson, who captured Friday’s Open Trot in track record time with Prime Interest, before returning on Saturday to prevail in the Filly and Mare Open Pace with Atoka Woodstock.

Snow Storm Sam is fastest in Jay Volkert Memorial

Hicksville, OH — The second session of harness racing at the Defiance County Fair in Hicksville, Ohio featured two divisions of the Jay Volkert Memorial 3-year-old colt pace. The race was named for the fair’s longtime speed superintendent who passed away in March.

The first division was won by Abalard (Threefold-Kelbrooksue) in 2:00.4 for owner Robert Shinn. Chad Peter drove the gelding for trainer Casey Rolfes. Peter was also behind the winner of the second division, Snow Storm Sam (Nobleland Sam-My Flirt), in 2:00.2. Duke Sugg trains the gelding for his father Ivan and For The Record Stable.

Look At That (Ilooklikemymom-That Lady’s Hot) captured the lone division of the 2-year-old colt trot in 2:05.1. Jim Mulinix trains the gelding and also co-owns him with Dale Leu. Mark Headworth was in the sulky for the winning drive.

Bavarian Rose (Precious Bunny-Jentina Ken Win) took the fastest division of the 3-year-old filly pace in 2:01.4. Mike Wolfe drove the filly for trainer Jeff Miller. Miller also shares the bills with co-owner Mike White. Our Cheap Date (Nobleland Sam-Bretta Falcon) came home first in the second division in 2:03.2.

Freshman pacers in Meadville spotlight

Meadville, PA — Freshman pacers highlighted the Tuesday afternoon card at the Crawford County Fairgrounds in Meadville, Pennsylvania.

Western Rerun opened the day with a 2:04.2 win in a $5,316 PA Sire Stake 2-year-old colt pace. Owned by Joe and Karen Offutt, the Blissfull Hall-Lady Western colt was driven to victory by his trainer, Joe Offutt. In the second division, Stately Art was a 2:04.3 winner for driver Randy Neal. An Arturo-Stately colt, Stately Art is owned by Robert and Barbara Krenitsky. Robert Krenitsky does the training.

Freshman filly pacers were up next in PA Sire Stake action, with wins going to Real Espresso and Miss Valley. Roger Hammer drove both fillies. Hammer also owns and trains Real Espresso, a Real Artist-Cafeuccino filly that paced the mile in 2:05.4. Hammer catch-drove Miss Valley, an Allamerican Native-Yankee Valley filly, to a 2:04.3 win. Jim Brewer owns and trains Miss Valley.
