Record Pick-4 pool at Pompano Tuesday

Pompano Beach, FL — With a carryover of almost $16,000 in Pompano Park’s Pick-4 going into the Tuesday night (Dec. 17) program, a $75,000 guaranteed pool and an industry-low 12% takeout, interest spanned throughout North America with a record pool of $102,666 being the final total for the track’s “Send It In” feature wager.

When all was said and done, 18 winning 50-cent tickets were tallied, each returning $5,422.55.

The sequence started in the fifth race when Ken Holliday piloted Roll With Faith to the winner’s circle, rewarding his faithful with a $6.20 mutuel.

Serious attrition followed when veteran Dave Ingraham steered Rock N Roll Rosie to a 13 to 1 upset win, returning $28.60.

In the third leg, Ask Me Ifi Care, with Mike Micallef in her sulky. won an all-out war down the stretch to win, paying 13.40 as the third choice in the betting.

The grand finale was won by Demi Ivey for Wally Hennessey, resulting in a $7.20 payoff and the lucrative payday for those 18 fortunate survivors.

A $2 win parlay would have returned $2,203.20, not taking into consideration what the large win wager ($562) would have had on the last win pool.

Wednesday’s program features a Super Hi-5 jackpot that has grown to well over $8,000 to anyone with the single winning ticket.

Post time is set for 7:20 p.m.
