Revised racing program for Paulding (Ohio) County Fair

Edgerton, OH — Even though the Paulding County Fair in Paulding, Ohio, has been canceled for 2020, the fair still plans to sponsor harness racing with a revised program.

Events 4, 8, and 12 on their original program have been canceled, and racing will only take place on Tuesday (June 16) and Wednesday (June 17) with a 4 p.m. post time each day. Their rain date will now be Thursday (June 18) at 4 p.m.

The Tuesday card will be comprised of Event 1 (2-year-old filly pace), Event 2 (2-year-old colt trot), Event 3 (3-year-old colt pace), Event 7 (3-year-old colt trot), and Event 11 (Spring Haven Farm Ladies Driving Series Pace).

The purse for Event 11 will be $650 plus the $30 entry fees to be added. There must be at least five entries in Event 11 or no race. If more than eight horses are entered in Event 11, the race will be divided with each division racing for an equal share of the purse with the entry fee following the horse.

The Wednesday card will consist of Event 5 (2-year-old colt pace), Event 6 (2-year-old filly trot), Event 9 (3-year-old filly pace), Event 10 (3-year-old filly trot), and Event 13 (Paulding County Pace – Free For All Pace).

The purse for Event 13 will be $2,500 plus the $50 entry fees to be added. Event 13 will be limited to eight entries with no trainer having more than one entry. If more than eight horses are entered, preferences will be as follows: (1) Ohio sired; (2) Ohio owned; (3) top money winners in 2020.

No spectators will be allowed for these races. All horsemen and race officials must follow the current protocols established for harness racing in the state of Ohio (including the wearing of a face mask and social distancing).

Horsemen should be prepared to race out of their trailers.

All horses must have a current negative Coggins test. There will be a licensed veterinarian on the grounds to administer Lasix.

Entries close on Saturday (June 13) at 10 a.m. for the Tuesday races. Entries close on Sunday (June 14) at 10 a.m. for the Wednesday races. Entries may be made online through the USTA or phoned to Bill Peters at 614.984.9515.
