Rochester Fair to open

Marlborough, MA — You know it’s Rochester Fair week in New Hampshire when the middle of September rolls around.

Fair officials are ready to present their 132nd edition when the fair opens on Friday, September 14, and runs through September 23.

Besides harness racing, the fair offers something to satisfy everyone’s appetite such as 4-H exhibits, horse pulling, oxen pulling, tractor show, truck pulling, a museum of harness memorabilia and agricultural exhibits galore.

Entertainment features a giant midway each day that opens at 3:00 p.m., The Crossing Dixon Band, who will appear at 7:30 p.m. September 20, and Circus Hollywood.

Director of Racing Mike Davis has put together eight sessions for harness racing. The opening date is Friday, September 14, at 7:00 p.m., followed by the traditional doubleheader race day on Saturday, September 15, at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Racing then moves to Tuesday, September 18, at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 19, at 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 21, at 7:00 p.m., and the September 22 doubleheader of racing at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Davis can be reached at 692-7424.

On Monday through Friday, the gates open at 11:00 a.m., the fair gets underway at 2:00 p.m. and the midway opens at 3:00 p.m. General adult admission is $7 on weekdays and $8 on weekends.
