Rock Candy takes Meadows feature; Wilder wins five

Washington, PA – Rock Candy shot the lightning lane with pace to spare as he captured Friday’s (Oct. 16) feature at The Meadows, a $12,000 Conditioned Pace.

Rock Candy zipped to the early lead for Brady Brown but was shuffled to third as the field turned for home. The ground he saved helped the 4-year-old Pet Rock-Cotton Candy gelding late as he triumphed in 1:50.3, a length better than the rallying Wild Wild Western. Prince of Tides completed the ticket.

Paul Corey trains Rock Candy, who lifted his lifetime bankroll to $408,836, for Kenneth Ashba.

It was one of four wins for Corey on the 13-race card while Mike Wilder fashioned a five-bagger. Dave Palone also enjoyed a big Friday with three victories.

Live racing at The Meadows resumes Monday (Oct. 19) when the 13-race program features a $72,452.06 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post is 12:45 p.m.
