Rock N Roll Jet returns to winning ways

Fort Washington, MD — 2018 was a magical season for Rock N’ Roll Jet. 10 wins in 37 starts, $93,975 in earnings and a fifth-place finish in the $100,000 Potomac Pace at Rosecroft.

This year, however, three-second place finishes in eight starts was all the 10-year old son of Rocknroll Hanover could muster until Sunday (March 18) when he breezed past seven other foes last night in winning the $11,000 Open Pace in 1:51.2.

The scenario played out predictably as Capital Builder and Hickory Aloha left hard and yielded to Bro Hanover after the first quarter mark. Sean Bier sprinted a :27.3 second quarter for a half of :54.3 and that was the green light for the eventual winner.

Driver Kim Vincent didn’t stay third-over very long, sprinting three-wide and clearing at the top of the stretch holding off Capital Builder and a game Bro Hanover. Buddy Bright trains and co-owns the winner with Dawn Webb.

The $9,000 Winners Over Trot went to 2018 Dexter Cup winner Lindy’s Big Bang. A recent private purchase for Midsize Construction Inc, Ricky Still followed last week’s winner Whambamthankumam trying to chase down leader Southwind Ferrari, and tipped three wide at the top of the stretch and just did nail Southwind Ferrari at the wire. The altered son of Explosive Matter stopped the timer in 1:55.1.

Trainer Arlene Cameron had three wins on the night, two of them were guided by driver Jared Moyer. The John Wagner owned Charmbo Curiosity was one of several closers to win on the night and Moyer has become very adept at guiding several closers in the Cameron barn.

Moyer, despite stalled cover, still caught Little Power in time to get the win in 1:53.3. A similar scenario unfolded for Moyer, who got Jimmy’s secret home by a neck over Totally Dreamy in 1:54.3 in the $7500 Claimer. It was the third win in four starts since arriving from Canada. For Moyer, it was his 12th win of the meet.

Frank Milby, the meets leading driver with 15, netted a double with the eye-opening Artic Adventure. It was the second straight win for the lightly raced 4-year-old Bettors Delight offspring scoring in 1:51.4. It was his eighth win in just 22-lifetime starts. Milby trains the winner for his mom Candy.

Milby also took a picture with Foxland who bested the $4,000 claiming division in 1:54.4 despite being parked the first half mile. Jason Walters owns and trains the 12-year old son of Badlands Hanover.
