Roy Marohn Victorious in GSY Amatuer Event

East Rutherford, NJ – Eight pacers went to post on Friday night (May 10) under ideal spring conditions as the rain didn’t head towards the Big M.  As the gate opened, post time favorite Awesomeness went to the lead and never looked back.

Longtime driver Roy Marohn was at the helm and guided the 6-year-old Mach Three – Fancy a Dream gelding to a three-quarters of a length victory after going the mile in 1:53 flat. The winner is owned and trained by Mark Ford.

He really never had an anxious moment or challenger for that matter and was able to carve out sensible fractions (:28, :57.3, 1:25.4) throughout the mile.  Getting up for second was closer So Take That with John Calabrese holding the lines.

Jackamino, with yours truly (Matt Zuccarello) in the sulky, found clearance late to get up for third.

The GSY will be back next week for a regular weekly event that will go for $11,000.  The first race post is slated for 7:15 p.m.
