Running Aces allocates stalls for 2014 season

from Running Aces

Columbus, MN — All 240 available stalls have been allocated in anticipation of the rapidly-approaching 2014 live racing meet at Running Aces Harness Park.

Applications for more than 400 horses were received, making the allocation process very difficult. Strong consideration was given to past participants at Running Aces who have had good local starts-to-stalls ratios and who maintain balanced stables that contribute to the overall success of the live racing program.

While not all applicants could be awarded stalls on the grounds at this time, it is possible that stalls could still become available before or during the meet and the waiting list is comprised of only trainers who applied prior to the April 15 deadline.

All applicants who could not be accommodated with stalls are welcome to ship-in to race approved horses, provided they are licensed by the Minnesota Racing Commission.

Stalls are currently available for affordable monthly rental fees at the Drollinger Training Center (call Trent at 319.541.2223 or 540.550.7116), the Cannon Falls fairgrounds and the Rice Lake, Wis.,fairgrounds (call MHRI Executive Director Susan Schroeder for contact information).

The barn area at Running Aces will open for approved stables on May 11 at 2 p.m. A special qualifying session has been scheduled for Saturday (May 24).

Opening night of the 2014 season is Wednesday (May 28). Racing will be conducted on Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday nights throughout the summer and end on Saturday (August 30).

Condition sheets are available for review on the USTA and Running Aces websites. Late closers for pacers (divided by sex) and trotters that are non-winners of one pari-mutuel race, to be contested in June, will be announced by May 15.

Approved trainers are reminded that there is a $150 per stall service fee for the season. Also, three documents will be necessary to enter the grounds: 1. a current negative coggins test within one year; 2. proof of an EHV-1 equine herpes vaccination received at least 14 days prior to arrival but not more than six months prior to arrival; and 3. a health certificate dated within ten days of arrival.
