Saratoga ‘double-double’ for Fluet

Saratoga Springs, NY — After registering training and driving doubles on Monday afternoon (Aug. 3), Phil Fluet continued his strong stretch at Saratoga Casino Hotel with two more driving wins on the Tuesday afternoon (Aug. 4) card, including one of the day’s $4,800 conditioned pacing features with the class-dropping No Ordinary Man.

The Meg Reynolds trainee had spent most of his time in the last two months overmatched in the Open pacing ranks, and after drawing post eight off the drop last week, No Ordinary Man got more class relief and was sent off the 1-2 favorite. Although he had to work hard to get the lead in a hotly-contested :27.2 first quarter, the 4-year-old Betterthancheddar gelding proved up to the task, fending off Itsonlyrocknroll A (Larry Stalbaum) by a length in 1:56.

Fluet also drove 17-1 long shot Amazing Amanda to victory for trainer Linda Flynn.

Live racing at Saratoga continues on Wednesday evening (Aug. 5) at 7:15 p.m., with New York Sire Stakes for 3-year-old trotting colts and geldings featured in the first half of the card. The Pick-5, which begins in the evening’s first race, offers a carryover of $3,959.
