Sassa’s Sister scores shocker Tuesday at Harrington

Harrington, DE — Eugene Landy’s Sassa’s Sister ($92.40, Trae Porter) was a 1:53.1 upset winner in the $17,000 Mares Jr. Open Tuesday (May 18) at Harrington Raceway.

Edge Of Eternity (9-2) set fractions of :27, :55.2 and 1:23.4 while Precious Alexis applied pressure and held a slim advantage at the top of the stretch. Sassa’s Sister fanned wide and was moving fastest of all to sweep by for a three-quarter length win. Precious Alexis held second while Western Secret A finished third.

Trained by Jim Porter, it was the fifth win of the year for the 6-year-old Rock N Roll Heaven mare. It was her second upset win of the meet, as she was victorious on April 13 at 22-1.

Allan Davis and Montrell Teague each had three wins on the card. Mike Cole had a double.
