Seven for SBOANJ Trot final at Freehold Friday

Freehold, NJ — The Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association of New Jersey trotting series for 3-year-olds concludes on Friday (Nov. 15) at Freehold Raceway with the $50,000 final. The race is scheduled as the third on the 11-race Friday program, and drew a field of seven.

The headliners look to be drawn to the inside: NJSS-SDF champion French Cafe and SBOANJ second leg winner Lucius Vorenus.

French Cafe finished third in the first leg of the series two weeks ago, behind Evident Beauty. This time around, there’s no Evident Beauty to deal with, and the Julie Miller-trained filly should find things easier as such. She’s drawn post position one, with Andy Miller driving.

Lucius Vorenus has done well since arriving at Freehold in late October, with two wins and a second-place finish to his credit. The Nick Surick-trained gelding will be driven by Jason Bartlett, and leave from post position three.

Trainer Lucas Wallin sends out a pair in Princess Deo and Sovereign Deo. Both of them broke in the second leg and will seek rebounds here. Wallin will drive Princess Deo, while Joe Bongiorno has the call on Sovereign Deo. They have post positions two and seven, respectively.

Dark As A Pocket looks to finally break through in the series, as she’s finished second in each of the first two legs. Last out, she closed well, but finished three-quarters of a length behind in second. The Linda Toscano-trained filly will be driven by Jim Marohn Jr. from post position six.

Marveloustrix, for trainer Karen Garland, and Warrior One, conditioned by Nik Drennan, round out the field.

The first race on Friday at Freehold will be at approximately 12:30 p.m. (EST).
