Standardbreds at Equine Affaire in Massachusetts

Columbus, OH — Many Standardbred groups pulled together to make a splash at last weekend’s Equine Affaire in Massachusetts (Nov. 7-10).

Sarah and Celeste Morcom worked with the USTA and Standardbred Pleasure Horse Organization of Massachusetts to have a breed row booth space and petting stall. The pair brought along H Masterson (“Harry”) to greet attendees and although the son of Centre Island never raced, he seemed to enjoy being loved on by all the passers-by.

Kelly Marshall and Elizabeth Tewksbury brought along their “Super” Standardbreds, Treacherous Cat and Dreamy Starlet, to do a breed demonstration on Saturday. The 18-year-old trotting bred gelding “TC” (by American Winner) and 22-year-old daughter of On The Road Again “Dreamy” jumped, cantered and did dressage moves in the ring to show the versatility of the Standardbred.

Abes My Uncle (show name Rumor Has It), who just retired this past January to compete as a Roadster, was driven by Clinton Jury in the demo.
