Star Studded Cast repeats at Pocono

Wilkes-Barre, PA — Star Studded Cast recorded his second straight victory in taking the $14,000 featured claiming handicap trot on the Tuesday (June 10) twilight card at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono over a “sloppy” track.

The altered son of Current Cast parlayed a pocket trip to paydirt last time out. Coming back on six days rest here, he made every pole a winning one for driver Anthony Napolitano in 1:57. A winner of $272,850 and 31 races, Star Studded Cast posted this victory for trainer Carmine Fusco and Verrazano Stables, but if he is to extend his winning streak to three, he’ll do it for new connections, as he was claimed out of the race.

Travis Alexander became the first trainer at Pocono in 2019 to send out two winners who paid more than $50 to win, as Marco Beach came out of the pocket to post a $63.60 upset. The key to finding Alexander longshots is to make sure they are driven by a Kakaley; son Matt drove A Bettor Beach to an $86.80 victory in his career debut, and father John guided Marco Beach to this longshot triumph in conditioned company.
