Successful Opening Night for Nisonger at The Great Darke County Fair

Greenville, OH – The Great Darke County Fair’s four-day meet began Friday night (Aug. 16) with 17 races, of which, hometown native driver Jeff Nisonger drove nine winners and trained four of those on the card.

The most impressive winners on the Friday night came in races eight and nine.

Race eight, the 3rd division of the Sonny Shipp, Jr. Memorial Pace for 3-Year-Old Colts, was won by Shamma Lamma  (3, H by McArdle – Shabalabadingdong – Western Ideal), owned by Mr. Dana Parham and Tyler Wrenn, trained by Melanie Wrenn and driven by Peter Wrenn. Shamma Lamma won by 10-3/4 lengths while covering the mile distance in a time of 1:54.4.

Race nine was a conditioned pace and was won by Harambe Deo (4, G by Woodstock – Tea Time – Camluck), owned by Deo Volente Farms LLC and Howard Taylor, trained by Chris McGuire and driven by Jeff Nisonger. Harambe Deo captured the victory by a 15-length margin and stopped the timer in a night’s best-equaling performance of 1:54.4.

Racing will continue Saturday morning (Aug. 17), the first of double-header day, with a first post of 11:30 a.m.

Saturday’s evening card will go postward at 5:30 p.m.

Next week’s racing schedule is as follows:

Wednesday Night (Aug. 21) – Post Time 7:30 p.m.
Thursday Night (Aug. 22) – Post Time 5:30 p.m.

On Thursday, the race card will feature the 2- and 3-Year-Old Parshall Futurity; the Annie Oakley Shoot Out featuring the Spring Haven Farm Ladies Driving Series; the Arnie Almahurst Open Trot and the Gene Riegle Memorial Open Pace.
