Summer Charm wins fourth straight in Meadows feature

Washington, PA – Summer Charm passed up an early seat, kept rolling to the point and captured her fourth straight victory, two last November and now two this month in Wednesday’s (July 15) feature at The Meadows, a $10,800 Filly & Mare Conditioned Pace.

Summer Charm wins for Jim Pantaleano on Wednesday at The Meadows for Scott Betts. Chris Gooden Photo.

Although Summer Charm had the opportunity to drop in third in a :26.4 opening panel, she and Jim Pantaleano thought better of it, wrestling the lead from Amelia’s Courage A. The 4-year-old daughter of Bettor’s Delight-Lover Of Art had little trouble from there, scoring in 1:52.1. Greenhilldebatable rallied from last for second, 1-1/4 lengths back, while Amelia’s Courage A saved show.

Scott Betts trains Summer Charm, who extended her career bankroll to $341,595, for Tim Betts, Nicholas Catalano, Keith Pippi and Brookside Stables.

Dave Palone piloted three winners on the 15-race card, giving him 13 this week, while Chris Shaw, Mike Wilder, trainer Ron Burke and Pantaleano also enjoyed three-baggers.

Live racing at The Meadows resumes Saturday (July 18) when the program features a trio of stakes: a $193,156 Pennsylvania Sires Stake and a $100,000 PA Stallion Series event, both for 3-year-old colt and gelding pacers, and a $42,610 Arden Downs event for sophomore colt and gelding trotters. The 15-race card also features an $8,881.21 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5 and a $972.64 carryover in the Early Pick 5 (race 2). First post is 12:45 PM.
