Swedish Derby winner Calgary Games headed to European Trotting Derby

The Timo Nurmos trained and owned Calgary Games, a 4-year-old trotter sired by Readly Express, extended his winning streak to eight by capturing an elimination at Solvalla to the European Trotting Derby, the Grand Prix de l’UET, to be raced at Aby racetrack, Saturday (Oct. 9).

Calgary Games, who is undefeated in his career, won with top driver Jorma Kontio in 1:56f (mile rate).

The other elimination was won by San Moteur (sired by Panne de Moteur) with trainer/driver BJörn in 1:56.1f.

A third elimination was raced at Vincennes and won by the mare Hirondelle Sibey (she by Gazouillis), with Eric Raffin in the bike and trained by Jean Michel Baudouin, in 1:54.1.

In the final, the total purse is approximately $470,000.

After Calgary Games won at Solvalla it was announced that Memhammar had bought a share in the trotter to secure him for future stud duty.
