Chester, PA – The Sweet Lou sophomore gelding Sweet Angel Boy, going uncovered from last through a pouring rain at Harrah’s Philadelphia Wednesday (April 21) afternoon, paced his own final half in :54.3 to be an impressive 1:54.3 winner in one of three $11,200 features at the riverside oval.

Tim Tetrick got the youngster underway quickly down the backstretch and went up to challenge pacesetting Letstrytowgleagain, the sophomore full brother to the immortal Wiggle It Jiggleit, and while that one held on well as his pedigree might suggest, Sweet Angel Boy was still able to leave him 2¼ lengths behind at the finish. Sweet Angel Boy, whose lone win at two was a 1:52.4 Keystone Classic victory, showed high potential here for trainer Jim King Jr. and owner/wife Jo Ann Looney-King.

Though Team Teague was thwarted with Letstrytowgleagain, they won the other section of the tri-features for pacing males with another son of Mr. Wiggles, the four-year-old gelding Nextmovebestmove, who remained undefeated in three career outings in 1:55.1. (Though the earlier rain had given way to weak sunshine, it had turned the track “sloppy” for the remainder of the feature events.) Montrell Teague kept the winner tucked in the pocket behind favored Step On The Gas, went by that one on the far turn, then held off a late-rushing Bipbopnallie by two lengths for trainer Clyde Francis and the partnership of George Teague Jr. Inc. and David Collins.

In the headliner trot, the Bar Hopping three-year-old gelding Ginger Tree Knox rang up his second straight victory, tipping wide off cover to gain control at headstretch and then holding off a late charge by Tequila N Roses by a neck in 1:57.3 in the off going. Andrew McCarthy handled the in-form trotter for trainer Steve Cook and the ownership of Sam Beegle, Ginger Tree Ventures LLC, Double D Racing Stable, and Reber-Chasen Stable.

Quite a few fast-class trotters will be looking to keep winning streaks alive in the $14,400 feature here on Thursday: Rich And Miserable goes for his fourth straight win; Refined tries to make it three in a row; while morning line favorite Hayek hopes to repeat his successful effort upon coming to Philly last week.
