Tattler’s Jet breaks track record at Ottawa County

by Dave Schmidt, executive director, the Signature Series

Defending Signature Series Pace Champion Tattler’s Jet, with driver Chad Peter in the sulky, made a strong statement on Wednesday (July 19) night at the Ottawa County Fair (Oak Harbor) by winning the 2nd Division of the Portage River Pace in a track record time of 1:55.2. The Jet has won the Signature Series Pace title the past two years and the win in his first race of the Series in 2006 puts him in a 4-place tie for first after the first week of action.
The Jet is an 8-year-old gelding out of Tattler’s Torpedo, trained by Gene Miller and owned by David Carter (Wisconsin). In 2005 Jet won divisions at the following county fairs – Ottawa, Auglaize, Champaign, Henry and Wyandot. The Jet placed no lower than third in any of his other Signature Series races and that is an average of 9.2 points per race on the 10 point scale. On the fastest winning times of the SS Pace during the series last year he had the 2nd thru 6th fastest times recorded. Tattler’s Jet is fast becoming a name to remember in the history of the Signature Series.
The Signature Series also continues to break track records at race venues over the history of the Series. The Signature Series started out with 6 county fairs and has now expanded to 17 race venues.
