Lexington, KY — The annual Stable of Memories “Round Barn” fundraiser will be held Monday night (Oct. 4) from 5-8 p.m., at the historic Lexington icon adjacent to the Red Mile.

This year’s fundraiser, “Bids & Bites,” will include a one-of-a-kind framed stained glass art piece of the Stable of Memories. It was created by Dr. Robert Murphy of Aiken, S.C., who used more than 200 individual pieces of glass in his design.

The silent auction will offer various items including equine artwork featuring both Standardbred and Thoroughbred horses: framed Currier & Ives prints of Johnston, Allerton, Flora Temple, Trotting For A Great Stake, A Brush On A Country Lane; large framed trotter, vintage 1899; framed pacer, very unique with sulky and driver made out of clock parts; Blessing of the Hounds print; framed “two-step pyrography on maple”; framed Richard Stone Reeves numbered print of Seattle Slew; framed Harry Bassett under saddle in 1871; framed Thoroughbred stallion Edwin Forrest; Fred Stone poster of John Henry; framed oil painting of Bret Hanover and Frank Ervin; framed watercolor print of Niatross.

In addition to its fundraiser, the Stable of Memories will be open to the public on days the Red Mile hosts Grand Circuit racing — Oct. 1-2-3-8-9-10 — with the barn generally open from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Informed tours will be offered one hour before post time on Saturdays and Sundays, Oct. 2-3 and 9-10. Among the collections available for viewing are artwork, horseshoes of champions, and assorted memorabilia.

The Stable of Memories Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit corporation.
