Vivid Wise As met his waterloo at Enghien

Until Saturday afternoon (July 31), Vivid Wise As was unbeaten in France over the mile, but was a beaten second in the Prix de Washington at Enghien.

Go On Boy defeated Vivid Wise As. Gerard Forni photo.

Vivid Wise As, trained by Alessandro Gocciadoro, had French driver Matthieu Abrivard in the bike for the first time and went to post as the 8-10 favorite.

Going into the stretch it looked as though Vivid Wise As, who had been undefeated in four mile races in France, would take a new victory, but 5-year-old French trotter Go On Boy, with trainer/driver Romain Derieux, who had followed Vivid Wise As, just managed to put a nose in front at the finish line to win in 1:52.

Go On Boy had to race from the second tier behind the gate as he was the trotter with the least money won in the race.

Last year Go On Boy won the prestigious Criterium des 4 Ans, but was disqualified after a positive doping test.
