Vivid Wise As rules in Italy

Vivid Wise As, a 6-year-old Italian bred trotter sired by Yankee Glide, is undoubtedly the best trotter in Italy at the moment.

Sunday night (July 26) Vivid Wise As, with trainer Alessandro Gocciadoro in the bike, was an easy winner of the Group 1 race Gran Premio Freccua d’Europa at the Agnano track in Naples.

Vivid Wise As was timed in 1:53.2f, posting his 17th victory from 43 races. The purse for the winner was 75,348 Euros.

Gocciadoro was also in the bike behind the 4-year-old mare Allegra Gifont, she sired by Maharajah, who won the Gran Premio Regione Campana.

In the male division, Gocciadoro finished second with Always Ek, beaten by Antony Leone (sired by Libeccio Grif), driven by Gaetano di Nardo.

Some of the best 3-year-old Italian trotters met in the Gran Premio Citta di Napoli raced over the 1-5/16th mile distance. The colt Barbareseco Grif (sired by Conway Hall), driven by Enrico Bellei, won in 1:57.1f (mile rate). The purse for the winner was 83,720 Euros.
