Who is better, Face Time Bourbon or Zacon Gio?

On both sides of the Atlantic, 4-year-old trotters had impressive performances on Saturday (Oct. 12).

At the Vermo track in Finland, French trotter Face Time Bourbon won the European Trotting Derby, UET Grand Prix over 1-5/16 miles handily  .53.4f (mile rate) while at Yonkers Raceway in New York, Italian trotter, Zacon Gio, was outstanding winning the International Trot over 1-1/4 miles in 1.55.2f (mile rate).

So who’s better?

They met once in Italy.

Back in May at the track in Modena, where Zacon Gio was driven by Roberto Vecchione and defeated Face Time Bourbon and Björn Goop by a neck.

A rematch between the two would be very interesting.

Italian breeder and owner, Antonio Somma of Scuderia Bivans ia linked to both top trotters. He is the breeder of Zacon Gio and the primary owner of Face Time Bourbon.

In other action at Vermo, the European championship for 3- and 5-year old trotters also were raced Saturday.

Björn Goop was behind winner Danish Ecurie D, who overcame a costly break before the gate, but still managed to win the 3-year old Championship, while Finnish Stonecape Quella with Hannu Toivinen was an easy winner of the championship for 5-year olds.
