Wiseman Memorial Trot set for Sunday at Aces

Columbus, MN — The field is set for the 2021 Steve Wiseman Memorial Trot which will highlight the nine-race program at Running Aces on Sunday (Aug. 22).

The event for top level trotters features a purse of $17,500. All American N (Luke Plano) has been installed as the 3-1 morning line favorite in a very well matched field of seven, with Bordogna (Nick Roland) second choice at 7-2 and Mind Yown Business (Dean Magee) listed at 4-1. Last week’s Open Handicap Trot winner, Pridecrest, is listed at 9-2 on the morning line and will have regular pilot Mooney Svendsen in the bike for owner Christopher Schick and trainer Kathleen Plested.

The race winner will be presented with a blanket, sponsored by Minnesota Harness Racing, Inc., and Kathleen Plested and Tyler Wiseman will be on hand in the winner’s circle for the presentation. Close friends and family will also be on hand to celebrate the memory of Steve Wiseman.

The Memorial race is carded as race seven on the program.

The Wiseman memorial night is partnered with The Colon Cancer Coalition’s Twin-Cities kickoff of the 2021 ‘Get Your Rear In Gear’ event which will culminate with a 5K Run/Walk at Veterans Memorial Park in Richfield, Minn., on Sunday (Aug. 29). There are special race packets available for purchase for $20, as well as Wiseman shirts on sale for $20. All proceeds from sales will go to benefit the Colon Cancer Coalition.

The Cal-X and Running Aces Fantasy Harness Racing League players have organized a one-night tournament to benefit the Colon Cancer Coalition in the memory of Steve Wiseman as well, with all entry fees going to the charity. In addition to bragging rights, the Fantasy Tournament winner will receive a swag prize package sponsored by Running Aces.

The Sunday card will also feature a very well matched group of nine contenders in the $10,500 Open II Trot, as well as two divisions of the Minnesota-sired sophomore trotters going for a total purse of $28,750.

The action will get underway at 6:05 p.m. (CDT).
