Wish Away scored in 1:55.2 in the Miss Vera Bars Stakes final.

Jody Jamieson, who currently leads all WEG drivers with 25 wins, positioned the daughter of Real Artist fifth in the early going, as post time favorite Tea Party Princess (Randy Waples) cleared to the lead past the opening quarter in :27.2.

Jamieson wouldn’t sit for long as he angled his charge to the outside and made a brush to strike the front before the half in :57. Tea Party Princess was now enjoying a pocket trip ahead of Rockabye Babe (Mike Saftic), who was sitting third.

Cheap N Easy (Keith Oliver) made the first-over sacrifice as the field headed into the far turn and was only strides apart from the tempo-setter as three-quarters flashed up in 1:25.3.

As the sophomore fillies turned for home, Wish Away was able to put away Cheap N Easy, but had to battle Tea Party Princess with a sixteenth of racetrack remaining. Tea Party Princess was unable to convert off a pocket trip as Wish Away scored the victory and her largest payday of her young career for owner/trainer/breeder Jeff Gillis. Tea Party Princess remained in second over Cheap N Easy.

Wish Away captured just her third lifetime victory as her career earnings grew to C$80,130. She paid $12.90.
