World record performance for Etonnant in France

The 7-year-old French trotter Etonnant, trained by Richard Westerink and with Anthony Barrier in the bike, dominated the Prix des Ducs de Normandie at the track in Caen, Normandy, France from start to finish and won the 1-1/2 mile event with standing start in a new world record of 1:53.1 (mile rate).

Second to Etonnant was Davidson du Pont, driven by Nicolas Bazire, beaten by three lengths.

Etonnant, who is sired by Timoko, earned $71,500 and now has total earnings of $1,115,709.

Richard Westerink hopes he will get an invitation to race Etonnant in the Elitlopp, a race which he won with Timoko twice.
